Winneconne Community School District conducts our annual Child Development Days each spring. The actual week varies, pending facility availability and our spring break. We make every effort to schedule children for Child Development Days and Kindergarten registration during that time. However, upon parent request, our staff will conduct a similar screening at any time during the school year.
The intent of Child Development Days is to provide parents with information regarding their child’s basic readiness skills. This includes motor, speech, language, and pre-academic skills. We encourage parents to take advantage of this opportunity to gain further information regarding their child’s developmental skills. Child Development Days also allows parents an opportunity to consult with our nurse, school psychologist, Kindergarten teachers, speech/language pathologists, and occupational therapist regarding any questions they may have about their child’s developmental skills.
If your child will be at least 3 or 4 by September 1 of the upcoming school year, you are invited to schedule an appointment to attend Child Development Days.
Additionally, all parents of children turning 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2012 and listed in our enrollment/census information will receive a letter outlining the time, place, and procedures associated with Child Development Days and Kindergarten registration.
We also advertise the dates and location of screening in the local newspaper for two weeks prior to the week of Child Development Days.
