Road Ahead Board Continues its Review
Update March 26, 2019

The Board and leadership team had its “now that we have projections on our enrollment and information on our facilities, what do we do” planning meeting with Plunkett Rayisch Architects (PRA) on March 15, 2019.

There is a lot of information to understand before making decisions on next steps. One common understanding or core belief that emerged from the meeting is that everything that will be discussed, contemplated, or considered will be filtered based upon facility needs that will provide safe and healthy learning environments in the schools.

The District will continue to update the community about discussions as it moves forward. It is likely that there will be a survey for the community in early summer 2019.

Full Report was Released at a Community Meeting
On December 3, at 6:30 p.m. in the Winneconne Community Arts Center (WCAC), about 40 members of the general public gathered with the Board of Education to hear Phase I report about the recently completed facilities study and enrollment projections.

The Phase I report about the long-range facilities study was presented by Plunkett Raysich Architects. Information about the population study, completed by MDRoffers, was also presented.

Here are the presentations:

Background
Maintaining school buildings is an ongoing effort. The WCSD Board of Education is creating a long-term facilities plan to develop a well-thought-out coordinated approach. The first step is to obtain current information from which to make strategic decisions about future investments into its school buildings and infrastructure.

Prior to this, the latest, complete facilities study occurred approximately 15 years ago. In July, the Board approved two new studies to equip the Board and administration team with up-to-date information: an enrollment projection study and a facilities study. Both studies are to occur this school year.

The Board selected Plunkett Raysich Architects for the long-range facilities study. It selected MDRoffers, a consulting firm, to complete the population study.

The updated information will serve as a roadmap for a facilities vision for the next 15 plus years. The facilities study will examine and then provide a report about the physical condition of all the District’s buildings. The population study will identify where population growth and change is likely to occur within the District’s boundaries and present information about the impact that any projected change will have on District programs and facilities.
