There is a growing demand for skilled professionals in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. The District’s Technical Education and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art and Math) classrooms are limiting program expansion. Local manufacturers have provided input on how to best design these classrooms and programs to prepare students for these high-demand jobs.
TheTechnical Education/STEAM project could include:
- Flexible learning spaces that can be modified based on course offerings
- Woods &metals classrooms
- Project Lead the Way lab
- Ceramics and graphics classrooms
- Design, fabrication and computer labs
- Build/test prototype room
- Outdoor work area
The cost of the Technical Education /STEAM expansionis estimated between $6 and$7 million. The cost to operate and staff this area is estimated at $160,000 annually.
