District Administrator - Peggy Larson

February Update

Congratulations to all of the actors, community members, and staff involved in the WCSD production of Beauty and the Beast. It was an amazing performance! Kudos!

Hopefully all of our community members received the District’s recent mailer - Journey to the Future: Reflections and Aspirations. If you didn’t get a chance to read it, I will recap it for you. Chapter One of our story discusses our Journey to the Future. It outlined our exceptional student outcomes, our new adventures, and our continued community support shown through support of the referendum and private donations. The mailer then highlighted how we are preparing our students for their journey beyond high school. Now on to Chapter Two: The Road Ahead. This next chapter of our journey focuses on the momentum you have helped us establish, and what is needed to continue this momentum. We will likely need to renew the five year operational portion of our recent referendum to operate STEAM and the Winneconne Community Arts Center (WCAC). It will expire in 2021-2022. We also recognize the importance of private funding. In an effort to be proactive, the Board of Education, the Winneconne Area Community Foundation (WACF) and local community members teamed up to form the Winneconne Champions. The Winneconne Champions are committed to exploring ways that private funding can enhance school programming, and providing long-term financial stability to WCSD. As their initial project, the Winneconne Champions have established the WCSD Endowment Fund for private donations to support WCSD long-term.

I so appreciate the forward thinking of our Board of Education and the Winneconne Area Community Foundation. This endowment fund truly breaks the mold for supporting public schools. State funding is very unpredictable. This fund could potentially provide a sustainable source of support. If you would like more information regarding how to donate to the endowment fund or contribute to other areas, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The school board and I are committed to keeping the community informed about the District’s progress. If you ever have questions about our school district, feel free to contact me at (920) 582-5802 ext. 3141.
