Along with learning about different structures due to environment, social structure, and culture. All activities will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. Mindfulness is a hot topic in education and blends well with the arts. In this summer course we will work on art projects while practicing a few mindful strategies to calm the mind and body. The mindful strategies practiced will be breathing exercises, quiet time to nature sounds, and yoga. After we practice a little mindfulness we will create art projects such as shadow tracing, rock painting, a variety of mandala work, clay bowls, tree weavings, painting to music, and many more.

We'll make food for you to bring home almost every day, so bring along a container labeled with your name!

School Forest Day Camp – Mrs. McGrath
Forest Day Camp is a class that will get you outside and learning at the Norbert Rich School Forest. At Forest Day Camp we will take an in-depth look at the critters of Wisconsin. From our feathered to furry friends and creepy crawlies on the ground, we will cover everything from eagles and deer to frogs and fish. Students should be prepared to dress appropriately for outdoor conditions the whole day and are asked to pack a lunch. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the Norbert Rich Property (5007 Ginnow Road). The Forest Day Camp will run from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00. each day. Students may be dropped off no earlier than 7:45 a.m. and must be picked up by 12:15 p.m.

*Introduce future 4K students to the alphabet and environmental print

Introduction to Technology – Mr. Arps
Grades 6-8
This class will introduce students to the basics of technology in the high school STEAM labs. This class will take place for 2 weeks, one week in design and manufacturing and the other in robotics and electronic applications. For the manufacturing week, students will produce a product to take home. Students will learn how to use design software to communicate with machines: 3D printers, laser engraver, CNC equipment. The following week, students will build robots, program them to maneuver them through courses.

Introduction to Middle School - for incoming 6th Graders
Worried about middle school… or not really worried, but would like to get ready? This course will explore a variety of topics of interest to the soon-to-be middle schooler. Fun activities, discussions, group interactions, personal exploration, organizing lockers (with school supplies), role playing their schedule are some of the topics covered in this course. Students will have the opportunity to get their schedules, locker assignments, learn how to use a lock, and get their school supplies ready for fall. Please look online to find the needed school supplies for Middle School. Since one part of this class is labeling school supplies and organizing lockers, we ask that you have these supplies by the second day of this summer school course.

Come and develop your Supervised Agricultural Experience Project! We will have 3 face to face class sessions, 1 site visit at the location of your SAE and one mandatory field trip to explore agriculture. This is a project based class for students entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade.

Beginning Band Lessons for Grade 5 (incoming grade 6)
Students entering 6th grade and learning and new instrument, will receive group instrument specific instruction before school begins. This helps reduce stress associated with learning a new instrument in a large group setting. They will learn beginning techniques for embouchure, breathing, poster, music reading and instrument cleaning.
