Advanced Exploration of Choral Techniques and Literature
Concert Choir is an auditioned mixed ensemble that meets on a daily basis. Students with a strong background in choral singing will study literature of an advanced level, ranging from Medieval to Contemporary periods and the music’s influence on the culture of each period. Vocal and Choral techniques will be concentrated upon, as well as moderate to advanced music theory and sight-reading concepts. The ensemble will be comprised mainly of, but not limited to, Juniors and Seniors. Concert performances may include Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts, as well as Graduation Ceremonies. Attendance at performances is required as a part of the grade. Students are required to participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival. Auditions for this ensemble will be held early 2nd Semester of the prior school year.
Exploration of Choral Techniques and Literature
Mixed Chorale is a choir for all voice types that meets on a daily basis. The ensemble is comprised of freshman through senior students, and will study literature of a medium level of difficulty in 3 and 4 parts. Music from classical to contemporary styles will be explored, and the technical aspects of singing and the basics of music theory and sight-reading will be covered in this course. Concert performances may include Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts. Attendance at performances is required as a part of the grade. Students are also encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival.
