The Middle School Counseling Department will address four topics with all students:
1. Bullying Prevention
- Policy Addressed
- Classroom Presentations
- No Name Calling Week
- Diversity/Accepting Differences
- Cyber Bullying - Internet Safety
- REACH Counseling Center and Christine Ann Center Classroom Presentations
2. Suicide Prevention
- QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) staff training
- Classroom Presentations - ACT (Acknowledge, Care, Tell)
- Community Presentation
3. School Climate
- DOTS
- 8th gr.- Challenge Day
- Random Acts of Kindness
- 8th gr. Peer Helpers
- Mix it up at lunch activity
4. Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drug Awareness
- Red Ribbon Week
- Classroom Presentation
- Community Presentation
In addition to these four topics, the counseling department provides students with the following support:
- Personal/Social Individual Counseling
- Big Mac/Little Mac
- 8th gr. Peer Helpers
- Drama Troupe
- Scheduling
- Career Conferences
Groups
Small Groups are designed to be developmental and preventative, and address issues that may be interfering with student's academic and/or personal success. Small groups are offered to all students several times throughout the school year.
