Winneconne Elementary's 3rd Graders participated in the annual Wax Museum today. Great job everyone!

Welcome to Winneconne Elementary School where we are Learning Today and Leading Tomorrow!  Winneconne Elementary School is a K-5 school with about 650 students.  We have five classrooms at each level in grades 2-5.  Kindergarten and first grade have four classrooms each and we have one multi-age classroom for five and six year old children.

My name is Lisa Hughes, and I am the principal at Winneconne Elementary School.  I taught in the district for 16 years at various grade levels (3,4,5,8)  prior to becoming principal in 2007.  I am fortunate to work with a dedicated team of teachers, counselors, administrators, secretaries, custodians, cafeteria workers, tutors, and volunteers.  Our school, in partnership with the community, provides students with numerous opportunities to learn, grow, and become productive members of society.

Here at WES our focus is literacy; we dedicate the majority of our day for reading and writing.  Our students are working hard to become life-long readers, writers, and learners.

We are in our second year of implementing PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports). Our motto is Practice kindness, Always show respect, and Work to do your best.  When students’ actions support our PAW expectations, they earn tickets that can be used for different rewards.  We also recognize two students monthly from each grade level who consistently model excellent character.  These students of the month get to have pizza with the principal and have their picture in the local paper and displayed on our bulletin board.  We meet monthly as an entire student body to celebrate our successes, and we continue to reinforce our PAW expectations so we can follow the ‘Winneconne Way.’

Feel free to come and visit our elementary school.  Be sure to check in and out through the office.  We are happy to answer questions and provide you with more information upon request.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hughes, Principal
