National Walk to School Day

Wednesday, October 7th is National Walk to School Day and the Winneconne Community School District is going to participate! The PE department along with the East Central WI Regional Planning Commission are sponsoring the event. This is part of the Safe Routes to School program.

On the 7th, the buses will drop off the students off at a designated location and the students will be able to walk the remaining distance. (ES - dropped off at the park, MS & HS dropped off near the laundry mat). Students who are brought to school will be encouraged to walk 1 or more laps around the track before entering the school.
Students who participate, by walking or biking to school, will receive a ticket to put their name on and return to be entered in a drawing for various prizes.
The Winneconne police department will be helping students cross streets along with the PE department. We would like to invite staff to join us outside this morning congratulating students who do walk or ride their bikes to school.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!
Happy walking! (or biking!)

Welcome to Winneconne High School, home of the 2013-14 Football and Spirit Squad STATE CHAMPIONS, where we are “learning today and leading tomorrow”.  Another exciting and challenging school year is just around the corner!  I look forward to working together with our students and staff as high school principal.  I have been a part of the Winneconne Community School District for six years, previously serving as a Communication Arts teacher, as student council advisor, and as the Dean of Students.  Prior to joining the Winneconne family, I taught English and business education courses at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School.

Here in Winneconne, our high school serves nearly 500 students in grades 9-12.  We are proud to be able to offer something for every student who walks through our doors.  Our comprehensive curricular offerings are paired with a plethora of technology components aiming to provide students with the learning experiences they will need to be prepared for whatever avenue they choose to pursue after high school.  Please feel free to read more about our course offerings and programming in our course description book, located on the high school counseling and career center website.

This year we will continue to grow Focus Time, a 30-minute block built into our daily schedule for a variety of learning experiences, ranging from general homework help, reteaching, one-on-one tutoring, and study skills, to enrichment activities like book club,  coding club, and small group discussions.  Focus Time allows our students the opportunity to enhance their own individual learning by identifying for themselves areas of need and/or interest and then scheduling themselves accordingly, encouraging all students to be accountable and responsible for their own continual growth.

The high school staff is comprised of highly-qualified, experienced, and caring people who are committed to success for all students. This commitment is demonstrated daily as we strive to help our students grow, not only academically, but as respectful, contributing members of society as well.

At WHS, we also offer a wide variety of athletic and other co-curricular activities that enhance the high school experience.  Our goal at Winneconne High School is to provide students with a high-quality, individualized educational experience in a climate that is safe, respectful, and positive for everyone.
We encourage you to visit us and see what Winneconne High School has to offer! We also encourage you to be part of the educational process at our school through the opportunities that are provided for parents, families, and community members.  By working together with parents and the community, we recognize that we truly can do exceptional things for our children.  Please join us.
