Illness

Parents/guardians should monitor their child(ren) daily for signs of infectious illness. Children who are sick should not attend school in-person.
  • Please review our WCSD: COVID-19 Screener daily. If your child meets the criteria to stay home, please keep the child home and contact the school for next steps.
  • Your child has a fever - oral temperature of 100.0 F or higher (the child's oral temperature must be less than 100.0 F for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before returning to school)
  • Your child tested positive for COVID-19; they must stay home. Can end isolation after 5 days if symptoms have resolved for 24 hrs prior to return and at least 5 days have passed since your test was taken.
  • Has been identified as a close contact to someone who has COVID-19 within your household. Your child must self-quarantine for 5-10 days from date of last exposure to COVID-19 person. Unless lab confirmed COVID positive within 90 days OR asymptomatic, fully vaccinated AND tests Negative by antigen or PCR, do not need to quarantine.
  • Cold symptoms serious enough to interfere with your child's learning.
  • Coughing that interferes with the child's learning and those around them.
  • Children who are vomiting and/or have diarrhea the night before or morning of school must stay home until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
  • Undiagnosed rash or open sores with drainage.
  • Red swollen eyes that itch and are draining or have a crusty appearance upon awakening.
  • Head lice infestation
  • Has been diagnosed with a contagious disease such as strep throat, impetigo, pink eye, scabies or ringworm. The child must be prescribed antibiotics and have taken for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
  • Has been diagnosed with a communicable disease other than listed above. Please contact the school nurse to discuss when the child should return to school.
