CHAPTER TWO: The Road Ahead
Let’s continue this journey together and keep WCSD a destination district!
We recognize that in order to sustain this momentum, we need a continued commitment from the community through public funding and private/public partnerships. We have the momentum to move forward.
We need your continued financial support to keep the Winneconne Community School District one of the top in this region.
PUBLIC FUNDING - TWO FINANCIAL FACTS WILL AFFECT THE FUTURE OF THE WINNECONNE
• Voters approved a 5-year referendum for $240,000 per/year to operate the auditorium and STEAM. In 2021–2022 the District will likely return to the voters requesting to renew this operating referendum.
• In addition, the District projects an additional shortfall between $1.3 and $2.8 million in operating dollars for all aspects of District operations–lights, energy, maintenance, technology, and staffing by the 2021–2022 school year.
(Public school funding is difficult to project for longer than two years. It is determined by the State’s biennial budget. Projections are made based on information currently available and may change. The District’s intention is to keep the community informed.)
PRIVATE FUNDING - THE CREATION OF “WINNECONNE CHAMPIONS”
In an effort to be financially proactive, the Board of Education, the Winneconne Area Community Foundation (WACF) and local community members have teamed up to form Winneconne Champions. The Winneconne Champions are committed to exploring ways that private funding can enhance school programming, and provide long-term financial stability to WCSD. As their initial project, Winneconne Champions has established the WCSD Endowment Fund for private donations to support WCSD long-term.
Did you know you can give a tax-deductible donation any time to the Endowment Fund, and support WCSD for years to come? Did you know you can make a legacy gift to the Endowment Fund through your Will or Trust? Find out more at www.oshkoshareacf.org/partners/winneconne
